Front Door and Dining Room Progress
After all the craziness with the front door during our first weekend of work, this week we were finally able to get the door painted and the new handle on! When I opened the paint can, at first I was a little bit nervous because the color (Farrow and Ball - "Stone Blue") looked a LOT brighter in the can than it did online, and even the color swatch on the can didn't quite match up. But I decided to just go for it, since Brandon had specifically picked that paint color out for the new house. Before we even settled, he bought the paint - when I told him I wanted to call our blog "Stone and Blue," he went online and came across the Stone Blue paint and insisted we use it for the front door. I'm actually incredibly happy with the color and think it provides the perfect pop against the brown/grey stone!
One thing I may be changing is the door hardware. I went with antique bronze, because I thought that we would be changing out the other door hardware (the letter box and knocker) as well. but now that I see the brass against the blue paint, I'm thinking brass is the way to go. So for now, the handle doesn't match the rest of the door hardware, but we'll probably be changing that soon.
Our other major project this week was picking a color for the dining room. We ended up going with Benjamin Moore's "Hale Navy." It's a much bolder choice than I would usually go for, but I felt like we might as well take the risk! The dining room will be surrounded by light and bright rooms, so there was no harm in going dark with it. Plus, it's just paint! I am actually totally loving the look and having a blast coming up with design ideas for the room.
I found a great rug on Wayfair that I bought for the dining room. It got delivered yesterday and my mom helped me take it over to the house and roll it out. It's perfect! I'm so excited to see this room come together. There is still SO much to do, but having this dining room planned out and in progress makes it feel like we're getting somewhere!
Thanks for following along. We'll be back with more projects soon. Check us out on Instagram @stoneandblue for more regular updates!
